World Ranking - Transparency International

The annual Corruption Perceptions Index, released by Transparency International (TI), has ranked Pakistan number 117 of 180 countries that were included in the index for the year 2018. The rank indicates a 'high' level of corruption in the country.

The index, which ranks countries on a scale of 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean), awarded Pakistan got score of 33 and Rank 117/180.

Neighboring India with 78th rank and score of 41, China with rank 87th and score 39 while Afghanistan was ranked 172 with 16 points.

Low-ranked countries, such as Pakistan, Afghanistan and Myanmar are "plagued by untrustworthy and badly functioning public institutions", with people frequently encountering situations of bribery and extortion, the anti-graft watchdog said after releasing the 2018 index.
